South Africa’s win in Gqeberha has levelled the three-Test series against Australia at 1-1 and pushed it into a decider in Cape Town. Australia’s second innings in Gqeberha ended on 295, an hour after tea, despite a washed-out morning session.

The third Test in Cape Town begins on Tuesday, 27 October, at 2:00 PM IST. The two sides are ranked third and first in the World Test Championship, according to Sky Sports, which will broadcast the match live.

How the series got here

Australia had opened the series with a 214-run win at Kingsmead in Durban, taking a 1-0 lead. The Gqeberha result wiped out that advantage and left the series all square, as ABC News put it, ahead of the trip to Cape Town.

The ICC’s news page also highlights Head urging a batting reset ahead of the Cape Town decider.

What’s next

After the Cape Town Test, South Africa host England in the 2026-27 series. The first match is on Thursday, 17 December at 1:30 PM IST and the second on Saturday, 26 December at 1:30 PM IST.

Australia’s next fixtures after Cape Town are the first two games of the white-ball series against England, on Friday, 13 November and Sunday, 15 November, both at 9:00 AM IST.
