Shadab Khan hit his maiden ODI century, an unbeaten 113 off 96 balls, to take Pakistan to a one-wicket win over England in Lahore and into the final of the ODI tri-series on 31 October.

Pakistan were 154-9 while chasing 242 before Shadab and Haris Rauf added 89 unbeaten runs for the last wicket. Pakistan finished on 243-9 in 47.1 overs.

The details

Shadab’s innings included 13 fours and five sixes. He survived a leg-before appeal on 97 when a DRS review showed an inside edge.

The 89-run stand for the 10th wicket was reported by the Tribune as the highest for that wicket in a successful ODI chase, beating the previous mark of 64. The Daily Star called it a new world record.

Ben Duckett made 105 off 111 balls for England, but his hundred was not enough.

This was England’s third straight defeat in the tournament. They lost to Pakistan by 87 runs on 20 October, when Pakistan made 302/9 and England were bowled out for 215. On 22 October, Sri Lanka beat England by two wickets, chasing 430/8 in 49.5 overs after England had posted 429/4.

England must beat Sri Lanka in their last group-stage match to have any chance of reaching the final.
