The IPL 2027 mini-auction is set to be a single-day event in Goa on 16 December, Cricinfo has reported, with franchises required to submit their retentions by 15 November.

The BCCI has not yet officially announced the auction dates. The reported date clashes with India’s second ODI against Sri Lanka in Bengaluru, which is scheduled for the same day.

From retentions to the auction

The 15 November deadline falls roughly a month before bidding. Once retentions close, the IPL will circulate the registered player pool so that franchises can draw up their shortlists. The final list and the set order are expected in the week before the auction.

The December event is the last mini-auction of the current cycle. A mega auction is due before the 2028 season, and the dates for the IPL 2027 season itself have not been finalised.

Trades so far: Delhi Capitals in both

Only two trades have been completed since the 2026 season ended, and Delhi Capitals are involved in both. One of them, in June, sent captain Rishabh Pant from Lucknow Super Giants to Delhi Capitals in exchange for wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav.

Trades remain possible. Under IPL rules the window opens a month after a season ends and stays open until a week before the auction. It then reopens after the auction and runs until a month before the next season.
