Rashid Khan first bowler to take 200 men’s T20I wickets
Rashid Khan became the first bowler to take 200 wickets in men’s T20 Internationals, reaching the mark in his 120th T20I, Afghanistan’s second against Zimbabwe in Sharjah. The leg-spinner got there by trapping Tadiwanashe Marumani lbw for two in the ninth over of Zimbabwe’s chase of 222.
Afghanistan won the match on 29 October by 19 runs after posting 221/7 in 20 overs. Zimbabwe finished on 202/5 in 20 overs, which put Afghanistan 2-0 up in the Afghanistan vs Zimbabwe series in UAE, 2026.
The landmark
Rashid has an average of 13.96 and an economy rate of 6.13 in T20Is. His best figures are 5 for 3, and he has two five-wicket hauls in the format. Dawn notes that England’s Adil Rashid is second on the list of men’s T20I wicket-takers.
The T20I milestone follows another for Rashid. Last October, in a match against Bangladesh in Abu Dhabi, he became the first Afghanistan bowler to take 200 ODI wickets.
With the bat too
Rashid also contributed with the bat in the same match, scoring an unbeaten 25 off six balls that included four sixes, The Tribune reports. His cameo helped Afghanistan close on 221/7.
What’s next
Afghanistan also won the series opener on 27 October by 37 runs. The third T20I is on Sunday, 1 November, at 8:00 PM IST, and the series runs until 13 November.
