Prasidh Krishna will miss India’s five-match ODI series against New Zealand, which begins on 4 November with the first ODI at Eden Park in Auckland. The pacer could not secure a fitness clearance and needs more time to build his workload after a hamstring injury.

He remains in contention for the two-Test series. Mohammed Siraj, part of the ODI squad, has been added to the India A squad for the second four-day game against New Zealand A, and Nitish Kumar Reddy will join India A after the first ODI.

The injury and the Tests

Prasidh, a right-arm pacer, was named in the original ODI squad subject to fitness. The ICC reports that he is still recovering from the hamstring problem and needs additional time before returning to competitive action.

He was also picked in India’s squad for the two-Test series, announced by the BCCI on 16 October. The BCCI said he will be added to the India A squad for the third and final four-day game against New Zealand A, starting 7 November, if he clears the Return to Play assessment.

Before the ruling-out, a BCCI source told PTI that a match simulation and fitness test had been lined up at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru on 1 and 2 November. The source said the team management and selectors believe he should be fully ready for the Tests, where he is needed more than in the ODIs.

Siraj and Reddy move to India A

Siraj has been added to the India A squad for the second unofficial Test against New Zealand A, at Hagley Oval, Christchurch, which starts on 31 October.

Reddy, a pace all-rounder, stays in India’s ODI squad for the first ODI. After that match he will join India A for match practice ahead of the two-match ICC World Test Championship series against New Zealand, which begins on 19 November 2026.
