Kagiso Rabada reached 350 Test wickets when he dismissed Travis Head for 14 on day 5 of the third Test between South Africa and Australia in Cape Town. Tribune India reports that he needed 13,808 balls, the fewest of any bowler to the mark, ahead of Dale Steyn’s 14,719.

Tribune India also reports that Rabada got there in 75 Tests, level with Malcolm Marshall as joint third-fastest by matches. Australia were 40/4 after 15.3 overs of their chase, according to the same report.

The final-day spell

Australia began day 5 needing 288 runs to win. Rabada struck twice in his opening over of the day, removing Matthew Renshaw for a duck and trapping Marnus Labuschagne for four.

After Head’s dismissal Australia were 20/3, and Josh Inglis was then run out for four.

A second milestone

Tribune India reports that Rabada finished on 601 international wickets from 260 matches, which makes him the fifth South African bowler to pass 600.

How the chase came about

South Africa’s second innings was built on centuries from Ryan Rickelton (101) and Wiaan Mulder (115). It took them to 387 and set Australia a target of 288.

This is the third Test of the Australia tour of South Africa, 2026, which runs from 24 September to 31 October. Earlier in the series South Africa won a Test by an innings and 31 runs, with Australia making 99 and 295, while Australia won another Test by 214 runs.
