India vs Sri Lanka first ODI moved from Delhi to Visakhapatnam
The first ODI of the India vs Sri Lanka series has been shifted from Delhi to the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam, the BCCI said in a media advisory dated 5 November. The date is unchanged: Sunday, 13 December, with a start of 1:30 PM IST.
The board said the change was made at the request of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA), in view of potential weather disruption and proposed renovation work at the stadium.
Why the match was moved
Deccan Herald reports that air pollution in the national capital is usually on the higher side, and that the outfield at the Arun Jaitley Stadium is being relaid. A DDCA source told ANI that the association was not in a position to organise the fixture under the prevailing circumstances.
The rest of the tour
The second ODI follows in Bengaluru on Wednesday, 16 December, and the third in Ahmedabad on Saturday, 19 December. The first T20I is in Rajkot on Tuesday, 22 December.
Sri Lanka play three ODIs and three T20Is on the tour of India 2026-27. The T20Is come after the ODIs, with Rajkot, Cuttack and Pune as the venues. None of the six matches has been played yet.
What’s next
India are on tour in New Zealand for a five-match ODI series followed by two Tests, and return home to host Sri Lanka after that. Their next game is the second ODI against New Zealand on Saturday, 7 November at 7:30 AM IST.
Sri Lanka play the first Test against Pakistan on Monday, 9 November at 10:30 AM IST, before the India tour begins.
