Towhid Hridoy’s double-century lifts Bangladesh to 386 in Sylhet
Towhid Hridoy finished unbeaten on 242, with 22 fours and 11 sixes, as Bangladesh’s first innings closed at 386 in the second World Test Championship Test against West Indies in Sylhet. ANI reports that Hridoy’s 242 is the highest individual Test score for Bangladesh.
West Indies had made 356 in their first innings. By stumps on day three they were 7 for 0 in their second innings, 23 runs behind, after bad light cut the day short.
Hasan Mahmud’s six-for
Hasan Mahmud had earlier taken 6 for 90 as West Indies were bowled out for 356 on day two. It was his fifth five-wicket haul in Test cricket, which Dawn describes as a new record for Bangladesh pace bowlers.
State of the match
West Indies began their second innings trailing by 30 runs, and the 7 for 0 at stumps leaves them with all ten wickets in hand and 23 runs to clear before they lead.
The two sides have already met on this tour: West Indies won the first Test, which began on 28 October, by 8 wickets. Bangladesh’s next Test after this one is the first Test against South Africa, starting on Sunday, 15 November at 1:00 PM IST.
