Rebecca Stokell, the Ireland Women batter, has admitted breaching the ICC Anti-Doping Code and accepted a voluntary suspension effective 23 October 2026 while the disciplinary process continues. The violation arose from her use of prescription medication.

The ICC said a sample from an in-competition test on 23 June 2026 returned an adverse finding for a Specified Substance, and that Stokell has been notified of an alleged anti-doping rule violation. Stokell made her international debut in 2017 and has featured in 109 international games for Ireland.

What Stokell and Cricket Ireland said

Cricket Ireland described the breach as inadvertent, saying Stokell accepted responsibility for a failure around the reporting requirements for her prescription medication. She entered the voluntary suspension while the ICC investigation is pending.

Stokell said she fully accepts her mistake and accepts that the likely outcome will be a suspension from the game. Graeme West, Cricket Ireland’s Director of High Performance, said the case is a reminder that anti-doping rules exist to protect both the sport and the athletes.

The ICC said it will make no further comment until the matter is finally resolved.
