Western Australia beat South Australia by 105 runs in Shield
Western Australia beat reigning Sheffield Shield champions South Australia by 105 runs at Adelaide Oval on Saturday, bowling them out for 316 midway through the fourth day. South Australia had been set 422 to win.
The defeat is South Australia’s second in 10 days, and Western Australia also took the Rod Marsh Cup, a trophy named in tribute to the former Australian wicketkeeper.
How the match went
South Australia made 154 and 316 in the match, while Western Australia made 5/406 declared and 169, according to the ABC scorecard.
Opener Mackenzie Harvey made 90 for South Australia in the chase, one of the few batting efforts of note in the fourth innings.
What it means
South Australia had lost to Queensland by six wickets at Adelaide Oval the previous week, so the champions have now lost back-to-back Shield games. This was Match 7 of the Sheffield Shield 2026-27 season.
