WPL 2027 auction: Mumbai Indians have the smallest purse left
Mumbai Indians go into the WPL 2027 auction with the smallest remaining purse of the five franchises. Wisden puts it at ₹1 crore and says they also share the joint-most open slots, seven.
The fifth season of the Women’s Premier League is scheduled to run from 14 January to 7 February 2027, according to Outlook. The franchises in the auction are Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Giants, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and UP Warriorz.
How the purse works
Every WPL franchise operates under a ₹15 crore salary cap. Money committed to retained players is deducted from that figure, and what is left becomes the auction budget.
UP Warriorz’ figures differ
UP Warriorz are also working with a modest purse, though the reported numbers vary. One Outlook preview says they enter the auction with roughly ₹3.75 crore and eight slots to fill, while a separate Outlook report on the full players list puts the purse at ₹3.65 crore with seven slots.
