Auqib Nabi, a 29-year-old right-arm pacer, has been added to India’s squad for the first three ODIs against New Zealand and is available from the series opener on Wednesday, 4 November. The BCCI’s Men’s Selection Committee made the announcement in an advisory dated 31 October. He was earlier in the squad only for the fourth and fifth ODIs.

The first ODI in Auckland starts at 7:30 AM IST. Separately, the ICC reports that Prasidh Krishna has been ruled out of the five-match series.

Who is Auqib Nabi

The ICC says Nabi made his ODI debut in the second ODI against the West Indies last month. He stays in the squad for the fourth and fifth ODIs as well.

The squad for ODIs 1 to 3

Shubman Gill captains the side, with Shreyas Iyer as vice-captain. The full squad is: Gill, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Iyer, KL Rahul (wicketkeeper), Axar Patel, Naman Dhir, Anshul Kamboj, Gurnoor Brar, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Arshdeep Singh, Ishan Kishan (wicketkeeper), Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, Nitish Kumar Reddy (first ODI only) and Nabi.

Reddy stays only for the opening ODI in Auckland. He then joins the India A squad for match practice ahead of the Test series, which starts on 19 November.

For the fourth and fifth ODIs, Iyer captains India and Kishan is vice-captain.

Prasidh Krishna ruled out

Krishna could not secure fitness clearance, and the ICC reports that he needs more time to build up his workload after a hamstring injury.
