India Women won by 121 runs against Zimbabwe Women in the second ODI on 25 October, and centuries from Deepti Sharma and Harmanpreet Kaur gave them an unassailable lead in the three-match series.

India made 328/6 (50 ov). They had won the first ODI by nine wickets, so the series of the Zimbabwe Women tour of India, 2026 is settled with a match to spare.

The details

India lost captain Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma early. Harmanpreet Kaur and Pratika Rawal then added a third-wicket stand that took the innings out of trouble. The fifth-wicket partnership between Harmanpreet and Deepti Sharma was described as decisive in pushing India towards 300, and it set a new India record for the highest fifth-wicket stand in women’s ODIs.

Harmanpreet scored her eighth ODI century, which put her in outright second place on India’s all-time list of women’s ODI century-makers. She was dropped three times during the innings, according to the PTI/Bhasha report. She also said she had a mild fever the night before, and that she and Rawal had talked about respecting good balls while punishing loose ones.

Deepti’s hundred was her second in ODIs and ended a wait of nine years and five months. The match was an ICC Women’s Championship contest. She said she had trusted her hard work and knew another century would come. She also said Zimbabwe have good batters, are not a weak team and gave India a fight.

Bowling and the captaincy question

Left-arm spinner Vaishnavi Sharma, playing only her second women’s ODI, led the bowling by taking wickets in quick succession. Deepti then cleaned up the Zimbabwe tail.

At the presentation, Harmanpreet spoke about life beyond captaincy. She said she accepts that reality and simply wants to enjoy her batting, adding that captaincy was not on her mind at the crease.

What’s next

India Women have won all five matches of the tour so far, three T20Is and two ODIs. The series runs from 16 October to 28 October. They will look for a series sweep in the third and final ODI against Zimbabwe Women on Wednesday, 28 October 2026 at 2:00 PM IST.
