Hardik Pandya-Arshdeep Singh trade: MI, PBKS in advanced talks
Hardik Pandya could move from Mumbai Indians to Punjab Kings, with the two IPL franchises in advanced talks over a trade that would send left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh the other way. PTI, in a report datelined New Delhi on 3 November, says both sides are keen but the deal is not yet done.
Outlook India takes a firmer line: it writes that senior management on both sides has all but agreed on the exchange, with the paperwork expected to go to IPL officials next. The BCCI has extended the player retention deadline for IPL 2027 to 17 November, which PTI says leaves both teams enough time to complete the trade.
What the deal could look like
One report adds that the exchange would also take wicketkeeper-batter Vishnu Vinod to Mumbai along with Arshdeep. That detail comes from a single source and has not been matched elsewhere.
PTI quotes a source as saying Shreyas Iyer will continue as Punjab Kings captain, so Hardik would join as a player and not as a leader.
Why Mumbai Indians may move
PTI reports that Hardik has not played since the last IPL because of multiple injury breakdowns. It also notes that Mumbai Indians missed the play-offs twice in the three seasons since he took over the captaincy, and that Rohit Sharma is expected to regain the role for 2027.
The two sides last met in May
In IPL 2026, Mumbai Indians beat Punjab Kings by 6 wickets on 14 May. Punjab Kings made 200/8 and Mumbai Indians replied with 205/4 in 19.5 overs.
