Ben White, the Ireland leg-spinner, has retired from representative cricket at the age of 28, finishing with 41 wickets across Tests, ODIs and T20Is.

Cricket Ireland dated its announcement to 28 October 2026. White’s last appearance for Ireland came against Bangladesh in December 2025.

White’s Ireland career

White made his senior international debut in 2021, having first come through the Ireland Wolves tour of Bangladesh in early 2021. Ireland included him in their squads for three ICC Men’s T20 World Cups, in 2021, 2024 and 2026.

His career-best figures of 4/20 came against Afghanistan in 2024. Cricket Ireland lists him with 43 caps and describes him as most effective in T20 cricket, where he took a wicket roughly every 20 balls.

In his retirement statement, White thanked Cricket Ireland for the chance to fulfil a childhood dream of representing his country at the highest level.

What’s next for Ireland

Ireland are in the middle of their tour of Namibia. They won the first ODI by 55 runs on 22 October, but Namibia took the second by 31 runs on 24 October and the third by 63 runs on 27 October, so the series is in the balance.

The fourth ODI is on Friday, 30 October at 1:30 PM IST, and the fifth follows on Sunday, 1 November, also at 1:30 PM IST.
