Pakistani players have pulled out of the Abu Dhabi T10 League, which starts on Saturday, after the Pakistan Cricket Board asked for a USD 10,000 no-objection certificate (NOC) fee for global franchise leagues, PTI reports.

Organisers are now rushing to find replacements for the 14 to 15 Pakistani players who had been signed for the tournament.

How the dispute unfolded

An unnamed franchise official told PTI that the league applied for the NOCs in late September. The USD 10,000 demand arrived only a few days before the tournament, which starts on Saturday.

Fee extends beyond Abu Dhabi

The PCB has also reportedly asked for USD 25,000 per NOC from other leagues, including Major League Cricket in the USA and International T20 in the Emirates.

A PCB source, who was not named, defended the fee on the grounds that demand for Pakistani players is high. An unnamed player countered that smaller leagues are an important source of income for cricketers.
