She is the first Indian woman to score a century in all three formats of women’s international cricket: Tests, ODIs and T20Is. The BCCI appointed her captain of the Indian women’s team on 6 October 2026, succeeding Harmanpreet Kaur.

Early life and domestic career

Mandhana’s family moved to Madhavnagar, a suburb of Sangli, when she was two, and she completed her schooling there. She made her senior debut for Maharashtra at 13 and was captaining the side by 16.

Her breakthrough came in October 2013, when she scored an unbeaten 224 off 150 balls against Gujarat’s under-19 team in a West Zone under-19 List A match in Vadodara. It made her the first Indian woman to score a List A double-century.

International career

Mandhana made her T20I debut against Bangladesh on 5 April 2013, and her ODI debut against Bangladesh followed on 10 April 2013. In February 2019 she led India in the first T20I against England in Guwahati, becoming the youngest India T20I captain at 22 years and 229 days.

She was named ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year at the 2024 ICC Awards, and also ICC Women’s ODI Cricketer of the Year. At the 2025 ODI World Cup she hit a century off 50 balls against England, the second-fastest by balls faced in women’s cricket at that time.

Women’s Premier League and franchise career

In the Women’s Premier League, Mandhana captains Royal Challengers Bengaluru and led them to the title in the 2024 and 2026 seasons. Earlier, she led the Trailblazers in the Women’s T20 Challenge from 2019 to 2022 and won the title in the 2020 season.
