Uma Kashvi, a 15-year-old all-rounder from Karnataka, became the youngest player sold in WPL auction history when Delhi Capitals bought her for Rs 10 lakh at the WPL 2027 auction in Kochi. Wisden’s live log shows the deal was made in the accelerated round.

Delhi Capitals ended the auction with one vacant slot, and the franchise’s coach Jonathan Batty has already spoken of Kashvi’s signing as a long-term investment.

Who is Uma Kashvi

Kashvi is a right-arm spin-bowling all-rounder who has played for India Under-19 in a series against Sri Lanka Under-19, ANI reports.

She told Deccan Herald she was grateful to Delhi Capitals and looked forward to sharing a dressing room with Jemimah Rodrigues, Laura Wolvaardt and Shafali Verma.

What Delhi Capitals said

Batty said the franchise’s scouts had watched Kashvi play extensively and that she could become an absolute superstar in the future. He credited the scouting network for the find and described the signing as a long-term investment in her development.

Delhi Capitals spent Rs 1.05 crore at the auction, taking their total squad spend to Rs 14.95 crore, which includes Rs 13.9 crore on retentions. Of the 27 slots available across the league at the start of the auction, 25 were filled, and only RCB and Delhi Capitals were left with one vacancy each.

What’s next

The fifth season of the TATA WPL is scheduled to run from 14 January to 7 February 2027, according to ANI. Kashvi now joins the Delhi Capitals squad for it.
