Mumbai Indians bowling coach and mentor Jhulan Goswami said the franchise secured 95 to 97 per cent of its targeted players at the WPL 2027 mini-auction in Kochi, with Kiran Navgire the exception, Tribune India reports. Navgire went to Delhi Capitals for Rs 75 lakh, the highest price they paid at the auction.

Goswami, speaking on 29 October, said Mumbai Indians could not go beyond their budget while chasing Navgire at the auction held on Wednesday. She said she was very happy with how the auction went.

A small purse, careful planning

Mumbai Indians came into the auction with the smallest purse, Rs 90 lakh. Goswami said that limit meant planning around several options rather than relying on a single name.

Besides Navgire, she named Shweta Sehrawat as the other Indian domestic target they failed to sign. The rest of their domestic targets, she said, were bought at their best prices.

Six uncapped buys

Mumbai Indians bought six uncapped players: Shweta Sehrawat, Akshita Bhagat, Disha Kasat, Latika Inamdar, Bharti Rawal and Sanika Chalke. Outlook India reports that Inamdar and Kasat each went for Rs 10 lakh.
