Kiran Navgire joins Delhi Capitals for Rs 75 lakh at WPL auction
Kiran Navgire, the Indian batter, was the costliest Indian player at the WPL 2027 auction, signed by Delhi Capitals for Rs 75 lakh against a base price of Rs 40 lakh.
She had been released by UP Warriorz before the auction, and Delhi Capitals now have her as their marquee buy from the sale in Kochi.
Delhi Capitals’ auction buys
Navgire’s Rs 75 lakh was by far the biggest outlay in Delhi Capitals’ list of recruits. Uma Kashvi, Nazma Khan and Kirstie Gordon were each brought in for Rs 10 lakh.
Head coach Jonathan Batty said the franchise was pleased with how the auction went, adding that it had gone about as well as they could have hoped.
What it changes
For UP Warriorz, the release of Navgire meant she went into the auction pool, where Delhi Capitals picked her up. The move takes an Indian batter from one franchise to another before the new season.
What’s next
The fifth edition of the TATA WPL is scheduled to run from 14 January to 7 February.
