Shweta Sehrawat joins Mumbai Indians Women for Rs 20 lakh at WPL auction
Mumbai Indians Women bought uncapped batter Shweta Sehrawat for Rs 20 lakh at the WPL 2027 auction in Kochi, having entered the sale with the smallest purse of any side at Rs 90 lakh. Wisden’s live updates place the sale in the accelerated round.
Sehrawat was one of six uncapped players Mumbai Indians bought, the Tribune reports.
The buy
Sehrawat registered for the auction as a 22-year-old uncapped batter with a base price of Rs 10 lakh, and went for Rs 20 lakh. Business Standard’s auction highlights describe her as the most expensive uncapped player sold at the auction. The same report names Kiran Navgire as the top Indian buy, at Rs 75 lakh.
The full squad list now shows Sehrawat in the Mumbai Indians Women squad as a batter, bought for Rs 0.20 crore.
How Mumbai Indians approached the auction
With so little money to spend, Mumbai Indians leaned on uncapped talent. Team mentor Jhulan Goswami said the franchise got 95-97 per cent of the players it targeted, the Tribune reports.
Where the team stands
Mumbai Indians Women lost to Gujarat Giants Women by 11 runs on 30 January in Women’s Premier League 2026, after beating Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women by 15 runs on 26 January.
