WPL 2027 auction: Gujarat Giants sign Kamalini, Prendergast

Gujarat Giants completed their squad for the 2027 Women’s Premier League at the Kochi auction on Wednesday, buying G Kamalini for Rs 40 lakh and Ireland all-rounder Orla Prendergast for Rs 30 lakh. Samaira Raghav was the third addition, and the squad now stands at 18 players.

The franchise went into the WPL 2027 auction with 15 retained players, Rs 13.75 crore spent on retentions and Rs 1.25 crore left in the purse. It had three slots to fill, one of them for an overseas player.

The new signings

Kamalini went to Gujarat Giants at her base price of Rs 40 lakh. The franchise opened the bidding at that figure and no rival franchise entered the bidding.

Prendergast is a middle-order batter and right-arm medium pacer. She joined for Rs 30 lakh.

What the franchise said

Head coach Michael Klinger said the preseason camp in Bengaluru helped the team assess its squad and identify areas to strengthen. Sanjay Adesara, Chief Business Officer of Adani Sportsline, said the franchise was pleased with the players it brought in at the auction.
