Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru signed Australian all-rounder Jess Jonassen at her base price of Rs 40 lakh at the WPL 2027 auction in Kochi on 28 October.

Tribune India reports that Jonassen has been ruled out of the Women’s Big Bash League with a hip injury and is expected to recover in January. The WPL 2027 season is scheduled to run from 14 January to 7 February 2027.

Why RCB wanted her

RCB went into the auction with 13 retained players and Rs 1.15 crore left in their purse. They used it to add four players: Jonassen, Chloe Tryon, Tejal Hasabnis and Vrinda Dinesh.

The franchise’s auction update, reported by ANI, says Jonassen’s arrival strengthens the spin-bowling department.

Who is Jess Jonassen

Jonassen has played three seasons for Delhi Capitals.
